Noodle Shop and Headman Office Built Over Canal Demolished

CityNews – Two buildings that are straddling a public canal in Mae Rim lost their bid to remain and have been demolished by the Regional Irrigation Office.

On March 26, Mae Rim Deputy District Chief accompanied by military officers and officers of Regional Irrigation Office 1 went to oversee the demolishing of two buildings found to be straddling the canals in Ban San Muang, Don Kaeo, Mae Rim.

One building was the office of the village headman, and the other was a noodle shop owned by a 58 year old woman. The noodle shop had been open for over 20 years.

Pittaya Im-em, the director of Regional Irrigation Office 1 said that the area will be used for a water funnel project, bringing water from Mae Sa river to Mae Kha canal. The project will be 8.25 kilometres in length and has budget of 43 million baht. More buildings and residences are also planned to be demolished. The project will be completed in May.
