CityNews – A man walked from Trang Province, heading to Doi Inthanon to keep a promise he made with his departed girlfriend.

Images of a man walking down the Canal Road with his pets went viral on social media this week. Sakchai Supantamart, 39, has been travelling by foot from Trang, in the southern region, since January this year. He arrived at Doi Lo yesterday, August 22nd, and is heading to Doi Inthanon. This is a mission for his girlfriend who passed away in October last year. “I have promised to take her to Doi Inthanon,” said Sakchai who has missed that chance when his beloved was still alive. “I don’t know how every one else measures their love, but for me, my girlfriend and I were always together. We worked at the same place, we had the same holidays. I have been thinking a lot during my journey and this is the one thing I can do for her,” said Sakchai.

During his journey, he picked up some companions along the way. His first dog, Kra Chao, was from Samut Prakan followed by Na Mo, a stray dog from Phitsanulok and a black kitten who was left abandoned on the side road. Sometimes villagers would take him to sleep over night, other times he revealed that he would sleep by the roadside, temple or a cemetery. Today he will be arriving at Chom Thong before heading to the mountain top of Doi Inthanon.

Note: His partner who was previously reported as his wife is corrected to his girlfriend.
