CityNews – 9th September, Police, Mae Rim District’s administrative organisation’s staff as well as eight soldiers raided a gambling den, believed to have been very long standing, situated a mere 100 metres away from the police station near Mae Rim Plaza.
Boonchai Watcharakajorn, 58, from Mae Chan District in Chiang Rai was arrested for facilitating the gambling and authorities confiscated goods including three computer notebooks, all open to football gambling sites, three printers, four UK football schedules, a bank book, 118,766 in cash and a set of Hi-Low.
Following an investigation, it was discovered that this illegal gambling den had been in operation for many years and was well known in the area. It accepts bets during the football season and in the low season switches to Hi-Low. Authorities said that this raid had been well planned in advance.
