CityNews – Chiang Mai Vice Governor Chana Paengpibun assigned certain sectors to survey damages in Chom Thong district after it endured heavy thunderstorms and strong winds on Sunday.
Several big trees were blown over and the gate between Chiang Mai and Chom Thong was also damaged.
Several private residences were also affected.
The tip of the pagoda at Wat Phra That Sri Chom Tong also collapsed for the second time in ten years. The pagoda is thought to have been first built in 1451.
Damages are being assessed and renovations will begin shortly.
