Chiang Mai City of Crafts and Folk Art Holds Talk on Artefact Preservation

CityNews – Chiang Mai City of Crafts and Folk Art held an exclusive talk on artefact preservation.
On June 6th, Chiang Mai City of Crafts and Folk Art, in collaboration with United States Embassy and Consulate in Thailand, Faculty of Fine Arts, Chiang Mai University and Chiang Mai Centre Museum, held an exclusive talk on artefact preservation with special guest, Trevor Merrion, a curator of the current exhibition, Great and Good Friends: Historic Gifts between Kingdom of Thailand and the United States of America.
At the event, Merrion walked the participants through the process of making the exhibition from drafting the idea, selecting the venue, narrowing down the exhibited artefacts and setting up the exhibition.
The event was joined by a variety of Chiang Mai networks who also work in the creative and culture field, including Rak Chiang Mai Network, Puak Tam community and Faculty of Architecture, Chiang Mai Universtiy.
“All of [the participants] here are either withholding or creating items that are culturally valuable to the community, and this will set the example of how to present that value properly,” said Woralun Boonyasurat, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Chiang Mai University.
Great and Good Friends: Historic Gifts between Kingdom of Thailand and the United States of America is on display now until June 30th at Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles.
