CityNews – The Bye Bye Smog campaign was hailed as a great success, with hundreds of people tuning out to show their support to those trying to make serious change in Chiang Mai and solving the smog crisis.
On Sunday, 24 April, the symbolic campaign began at the three kings monument around 5pm. The demonstration was led by Jakkapat Promyard, leader of the SILENT GEN Y students in CMU, to encourage people and institutes to realise the immediate danger smog poses on us all indiscriminately across the entire northern region of Thailand.
People were invited to bring their own protective N95 mask and wear them at the demonstration, where many influential figures talked.
Over 2,000 people clicked attending on the Bye Bye Smog Facebook event.
During the demonstration, respects were also paid to King Mangrai to ask for his help to solve the problem too.
The Bye Bye Smog campaign was funded by donations and the sale of over 1,000 N95 masks to people around Chiang Mai.
