Bua Dam Gang Teens Stab Tai Yai Man Six Times at Busy Market

CityNews – A group of teens have been arrested after an aggressive attack on a Tai Yai man at Ton Lamyai Market on January 15th, stabbing him six times in the abdomen and head.

On January 15th, a group of teens began chasing a man after a heated argument outside Ton Lamyai Market. After catching up with the man, the gang stabbed and hit him with metal pipes. The victim, a 28 year old Tai Yai man, suffered six stab wounds to his abdomen and head and had bruises all over his body. He was rushed to hospital where he is now in a stable condition. The attackers ran from the scene, but eyewitnesses told police they were wearing shirts with the Bua Dum Gang logo.

The Bua Dum Gang (Black Lotus Gang) is a gang of roughly 40 members, connected on Facebook, who meet up around Chiang Mai. They often target Tai Yai men and teens to attack around Chiang Mai, often near the Iron Bridge, Nawarat Bridge, Tha Pae Gate and Warorot Market.

On January 17 police identified and arrested six suspects related to the attack. During the arrest, one managed to escape. They were all in possession of weapons such as samurai swords, machetes, knives and also shirts with the gang logo printed on them.

The six suspects were all legal migrants working as construction workers. They have been charged with attempted murder and are awaiting trial.
