Thanachart Bank, Nimmanhaemin branch, was targeted this morning by a lone male, armed with an automatic weapon.

The suspect successfully stole 129,000 baht in cash and escaped on an old style red Honda Dream with no license plate.

Police have examined CCTV footage and taken fingerprint samples from the front door of the bank.

The suspect is identified as a plump man, aged around 35 years old and roughly 170 centimeres tall.

The robbery lasted only 26 seconds, from threatening the bank teller with a gun and escaping on his motorbike. He wore a motorbike helmet throughout the robbery.

Police suspect the robbery was planned and believe the man had often visited the area to scope out opportunities. They also suspect the bank was targeted due to it not having a permanent security guard.

Checkpoints have been set up around the city and police are currently searching for the man and his motorbike.
