CityNews – To prevent further flash floods as well as in anticipation of more flooding to come, much work is being done to our city drains.

150 people gathered today in support of the government call out for help to dredge the city’s drains. Military personnel, officials from the Irrigation Office and Chiang Mai Municipality, as well as many civilians gathered today, August 16th, to dredge the city’s clogged drains. Today’s activity was set up following last week’s flash floods which affected many areas of the city, following heavy downpour. The dredging started at Klang Wiang Intersection of Rachadamnoen and Prapokklao Roads near the Thai Airways Office building. Massive amounts of waste was found blocking the drainage flow including log stumps. This activity is expected to remedy the overflow for future rains this year.
