CityNews – Warm Heart Worldwide will be hosting a voluntour opportunity to help celebrate and kick off their sustainable planting drive in Mae Chaem.
They are looking for the environmentally minded, social conscious, and curious people to come join them as they start Mae Chaem’s transformation into a sustainable and socially equitable agriculture!
Mae Chaem is a rural district west of Chiang Mai; nestled in the shadow of Doi Inthanon, Thailand’s highest mountain. In recent years the area has suffered from issues such as deforestation, soil degradation and crop-waste burning. Warm Heart has been working with the local farmers to find innovative and long-term solutions to these issues.
This forest-crop planting drive is the most recent in a long line of projects that have helped and improved the condition of the local farmers. This has helped them continue to maintain their local lifestyle and culture. This most recent project will help them move away from corn and to the reliability and sustainability of tree-grown products such as mangoes and coffee.
They are offering us all the opportunity to learn about the issues and get involved with the solutions. Along the way you will be immersed in the beautiful landscape and local culture, and after you’ve helped with the planting drive your hard work will be rewarded with an unforgettable evening meal overlooking the districts most iconic vistas. The next day they will also provide the opportunity to go up Doi Inthanon, Thailand’s Highest peak!
All accommodation and travel expenses will be covered in the 2,800-baht ticket. This will involve a (Chiang Mai based) hotel pickup on the 18th, the full day’s planting event/charities fair/evening tour on the 19th, and the trip up Doi Inthanon and drop of in Chiang Mai. As they want to offer you the opportunity at the lowest possible price, if 10 or more people attend, they will be able to drop the price to only 2,000-baht! So be sure to invite your friends.
