CityNews – Authorities prep up for the Songkran festival next month.
Songkran festivals in Chiang Mai reportedly welcome over 10 million tourists each year. The majority of international tourists are Chinese followed by Korean, Malaysian, American and Hong Kong.
At the announcement on March 6th, tourist police presented rescue exercises and drills anticipating cases of robbery and attack while the Chiang Mai Provincial Office of Tourism and Sports is tasked with liaising with rental vehicle companies due to the concerns over foreigners having road accidents. The office stressed that the service providers is required to tell customers on related regulations.
