Community improv jam
Come one, come all! This monthly improv play day is lovingly hosted by Chiang Mai’s own Mind Into Matter Improv Comedy Troupe!
Do you have improv experience? Great! Come add your style.
No experience? Great!! You were probably doing something fantastic with your time.
No experience is needed to join the Community Improv Jam.
We will play a series of strange & exciting games. Unlike football, World of Warcraft, and Settlers of Catan, these games have
NO WINNERS! They hardly have rules. There is no way to mess this up.
Being a grown up is hard. The improv jam is an opportunity to play, to laugh, and to imagine. We will tell stories. We will stumble upon some jokes. We will listen, lift each other up, and see what we can create together.
If you are nervous, come anyway! Your nerves will melt away during warm-ups.
If English is not your first language, don’t worry! Many of the games don’t use language. We will speak slowly. You can ask questions. We will help you!
This workshop will probably draw mostly adults, but teenagers are welcome too! We practice a PG-13 style of comedy so no one will be scandalized. We have had some very sophisticated teens come through our group who taught us a thing or two.
The Community Improv Jam is being held at Free Bird Cafe in the Nimman neighborhood. Free Bird is a social enterprise that supports refugees from Burma. All food & drink sales benefit these relief efforts. Food sales are available before the event, up until 4:30. Drinks are available until 6:30. It is a free event, but please do eat, drink or buy something from Free Bird in exchange for the space to play.
We start at 5pm. Depending on attendance, the workshop will run 90 minutes or two hours.
The Community Improv Jam for January will be on Sunday the 24th at 5pm.
Bring your friends! Bring your enemies! All are welcome at the Community Improv Jam!
