Commemorating 24 Years of Charan Manophet
The Chiang Mai Online Media Association, together with the Lanna Artists Group presents an event to celebrate and preserve the legacy of Kham Mueang folk songs and Lanna culture.

Join us in honoring the songs of the Charon Manophet, King of Kham Mueang Folk music, performed by over 20 traditional Lanna artist groups, in the warm, vibrant atmosphere of a Kad Mua Kua Hom (traditional Lanna-style market and gathering).

Share Your Kindness – “Pass the Dream Along”

Be part of this meaningful initiative by donating your unused but good-condition guitar from home to students who love music but lack the means to afford one—helping them to learn, practice, and grow their musical talents.

The event will also feature a charity auction of guitars signed by Lanna artists, with all proceeds used to purchase guitars for underprivileged youths in remote areas.

Highlights of the Day

Charan Memorial Exhibition – The life, works, and legacy of Charan Manophet, from his early days to his final years.

Charity Kathin & Offering Drive – Contributions to provide socks, shoes, and winter clothing for children in remote areas, as well as aid for natural disaster relief.

Northern Food Zone – Savour traditional Lanna delicacies in a Kad Mua Kua Hom market setting.

Main Stage Performances – Over 20 Lanna artists and bands will gather to perform and pay tribute to Ajarn Charan, the grand master of Kham Mueang folk music, from 12:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., including:

The entire event on September 3, 2025 will be livestreamed directly from the venue on the MCOT Chiang Mai Radio Facebook Page and CM 108 Facebook Page, as well as shared across media partners and member networks of the Chiang Mai Online Media Association, reaching audiences nationwide.

About the Event

“24 Years Remembering Charan Manophet” is a non-profit community event—a Poy Luang Hom Haeng Kan (grand Lanna-style communal gathering) where artists and organisers volunteer their time and talent without compensation, united in honouring the memory of Charan Manophet, a great teacher, legendary musician, and role model for Lanna artists.

The event also aims to promote local arts, culture, and language, and to introduce Lanna music to a wider audience.
