Sharmaine Shaikh’s Birthday at Indian Consulate

As part of #AzadiKaAmritMahotsav Consulate of India held a Maitri Divas Concert to mark the 50th anniversary of India according recognition to Bangladesh as an Independent country. Chiangmai based Simple Band performed some classical and modern music, Swan Bay of Swan Bay Band rendered Bangla Sufi music popular both in Bangladesh and India. Shyam Arora and Jenefer also performed. The event also celebrated the birthday of Sharmaine Shaikh, an architect and sustainable living exponent from Mumbai, currently based in Chiangmai, to highlight the remarkable resilience, fortitude and prodigious courage and determination that women in India are displaying in overcoming the challenges that confront them, making new strides, winning new frontiers, and bringing glory for themselves and becoming a role model for others.
