Chiang Mai upgrades its international aviation festival with “Chiang Mai Airshow 2026,” establishing a Northern Aerospace Cluster and upgrading its MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) aircraft maintenance center.

Chiang Mai Province – The Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organization, in collaboration with the Northern Aviation Association, is upgrading the 5th annual “Chiang Mai International Airshow 2026” to promote tourism through its “12 Months, 12 Festivals” initiative. The goal is to elevate Chiang Mai into an international aviation hub, generating at least 300 million baht in revenue. Furthermore, they are moving forward with the establishment of a Northern Aerospace-Aviation Cluster, driving the creation of an aircraft maintenance center and pushing for the establishment of the Aircraft Maintenance Skills Development Institute (AMSDI) in Northern Thailand to support Chiang Mai’s role as a central hub for aviation activities.

Pol. Lt. Col. Mingkwan Daengsuwan, Vice President of the Northern Aviation Association, stated that the 5th Chiang Mai International AIRSHOW Festival 2026, to be held from January 23-25, 2026, has been included in Chiang Mai’s 12-month, 12-festival calendar. This significant event will promote the province’s tourism image, stimulate the economy, and serve as an international festival attracting participants from across Thailand and abroad. It aims to boost the tourism sector in Chiang Mai and Northern Thailand through the Aviation Tourism strategy, with the potential for future national and international expansion. This will generate revenue for local communities and support trade and investment in the area. It is expected that this year’s event will attract at least 20,000 visitors and generate over 300 million baht in revenue for the region.

This event will be held at Chiang Mai Airsport Airfield, Ban Buak Khang, Tambon Buak Khang, San Kamphaeng District, Chiang Mai Province. It will feature aerial demonstrations by over 40 aircraft from both Thailand and abroad, with free admission. Following this, the three-day event will include an aviation exhibition, pavilions showcasing aviation-related businesses, educational institutions, and airlines, a food festival, as well as hot air balloon displays, paragliding demonstrations by the Northern Thailand Paragliding Group, remote-controlled jet aircraft demonstrations, and more.
