On February 21, 2015, Mr. Wiraphong Ritrod, Deputy Governor of Chiang Mai Province, presided over the opening ceremony of “Kad Dara Thewi”, which was jointly organized by Dara Thewi Chiang Mai and Tha Sala Municipality. The objective is to develop this area into a public space for arts and culture, so that everyone has the opportunity to experience and learn about Lanna civilization and architecture. The “Kad Dara Thewi” project was initiated by a collaboration between the public and private sectors, along with Tha Sala Municipality, to promote and support local entrepreneurs and create a new economic area for the province. It aims to make “Kad Dara Thewi” a new destination for both Thai and foreign tourists who will experience cultural tourism in a different way. The “Kad Dara Thewi” project area is held in the area of Siam Estate Dara Thewi Co., Ltd., which is the legal owner. The area for organizing the “Kad Dara Thewi” project has clearly defined activity areas: the lawn and the red stone area, which are outdoor events only. No buildings or restaurants are used by the company. The company is in the process of applying for a building permit to properly modify the building. The company has already submitted a request for permission from Thasala Municipality to use the activity area. Siam Estate Daradevi Co., Ltd. has prepared the area and provided financial support for the entire event. It has received good cooperation and support from Thasala Municipality and Wat Buak Krok in facilitating parking space, as well as providing Civil Defence Volunteers (CDV) to maintain peace and order, and has also contacted and coordinated with the surrounding communities to set up free shops to promote and support local entrepreneurs and stimulate the surrounding economy. The activity zones in the “Kad Daradevi” event consist of Zone 1: Crafts, Handicrafts and Local Wisdom Experience the beauty of local handicrafts that reflect the meticulousness and meticulousness that demonstrates art, delicacy and local wisdom through the display of various handicrafts, such as: • Lantern Making Group, Village No. 1, making lanterns from Thasala Municipality’s handicraft products and workshops for those interested in trying to create local lanterns from their own artwork. • Community Enterprise Group presenting products from mural paintings and unique bag paintings. • Ancient nail hammering, a local art that has been passed down from ancient times.
