Indian 74th Republic Day

Indian Community in Chiangmai and North Thailand and Friends of India from many nationalities assembled at the Consulate of India to celebrate 74th Republic Day. Consul of India Krishna Chaitanya unfurled the national flag and read out President Draupadi Murmu’s Speech. He presented Freedom Fighter Lal Singh Pandhi (Bhatia) Award to artist Navin Ravanchaikul for documenting, through his paintings, the migration and settlement of Indian community in Thailand; Indian Alumna Dr Amnuaypond Kidpromma (Nong) from CMU for her research work on Baul folk tradition of India; Dr Pattama Sawangsri and Dr Seksan Sawangsri from CMU for promotion of Hindi, Dr Siv Shankar Ramasamy and Dr Bhagvati Sivmaruthi from CMU for academic excellence and higher research; and Ajaz Ahmad Khan for excellence in Business and promoting fusion of Thai and Indian artwork. Indian student Rayi Singh was awarded Lal Singh Pandhi (Bhatia) Medal for her brilliant academic record. Overseas Citizenship of India was presented to Duangchan Gurbachan, Ms Yani Buasai and her daughter Yashoda; Piranrut Kumar, and Jagdish Khatwa. Students from CMU presented a couple of songs in Hindi for the occasion. Delicacies from different parts of India was served by Accha Authentic Indian Restaurant and Chai N Thai and variety of Indian tea by Fine August.
