Anantara Chiang Mai Resort Reveals a Lanna-Inspired Christmas Tree Honouring Culture, Craft, and Sustainability
Chiang Mai, 28 November 2025 – Anantara Chiang Mai Resort proudly welcomes the festive season with the unveiling of a Christmas tree inspired by the timeless spirit of Lanna. Drawing from Chiang Mai’s cool-season blooms, abundant natural beauty, and the enduring traditions of its communities, this year’s design pays homage to the artistry, heritage, and cultural wisdom of Northern Thailand.
A celebration of Lanna craftsmanship
Thoughtfully conceived to reflect the region’s unique identity, the Christmas tree features an exquisite ensemble of traditional craftsmanship and locally sourced materials. Each piece has been selected to honour the artisans and cultural legacies behind it, including:
• Delicate floral ornaments handcrafted from Ton Pao saa paper of San Kamphaeng
• Hand-woven rattan spheres created by artisans of Tha Wang Tan in Saraphi
• Intricate bamboo weavings from Ban Waen in Hang Dong
These natural elements are curated into a contemporary arrangement that balances elegance, authenticity, and refined festive charm.
Sustainability at its heart
In line with Anantara’s commitment to responsible luxury, the Christmas tree is crafted entirely from natural, biodegradable materials. The design intentionally avoids synthetic components, reducing environmental impact while supporting local craftspeople whose generational skills sustain Lanna artistry. The installation stands as a meaningful expression of cultural stewardship, community empowerment, and mindful celebration.
A Tree with Purpose: Children’s Wishes and Community Giving
Adding a heartfelt dimension, the Christmas tree is adorned with wish cards written by students from Wat Sri Don Chai Municipal School. Guests are warmly invited to participate by contributing learning materials or toys, helping to create moments of joy and opportunity for the children during this festive season.
An Enchanting Light Display
Beyond the tree, the resort transforms into a luminous wonderland, with elegant light installations illuminating pathways, gardens, and the historic 1921 House. Guests are invited to stroll through the displays, capture memorable festive moments, and enjoy seasonal dining throughout the holidays. The installations will shine nightly until 5 January 2026.
