CityNews – Wildfire officers of Doi Inthanon National Park and military were informed by local residents of a fire in the forest conservation area in Mae Rim’s Don Kaew sub-district, Chiang Mai yesterday afternoon, May 10.

Because of the hot weather and dryness of the land. The fire spread quickly and easily, causing a vast amount of smoke and a strong smell of burning vegetation to cover the area.

Officials worked for over 2 hours to control the blaze, and continued to monitor the area afterwards to make sure the fire did not ignite again. After surveying the area it was found that around 10 – 15 rai of land was damaged by the blaze.

The cause of the wildfire is believed to be from local Hmong villagers who were burning the forest and foraging. The fires they were trying to control spread quickly across the dry land.

Fortunately there was no reports of injuries.

Officials are no tracing the suspects.
