CityNews – The Bike for Mom event in Chiang Mai was held at Chiang Mai International Exhibition and Convention Centre on August 16th.
The first group of around 2,000 cyclists was released at at around 3pm led by Chiang Mai Governor Suriya Prasatbandit, military, police, and local authorities, and was recorded by the Guinness World Records.
Seven groups of cyclists joined the event at the centre, each group numbering at about 1,000 cyclists each.
They all rode bicycles from the city centre, along Liab Kan Klong Chonlapratan, to Royal Park Rajapruek and then back to the centre, totaling a distance of around 35 kilometres long.
According to the governor, over 10,000 cyclists, both registered and unregistered, joined Bike for Mom event in Chiang Mai that day.
Nine people were reported of minor injuries.
According to Public Relations Division of Chiang Mai Province, an unofficial report of the Guinness World Records shows that the number of the cyclists across the country and joining the event is 146,290. If the number is confirmed, Thailand will make a new world record of the biggest bicycle parade of all time.
