CityNews – On 14th November at 9 a.m. the Chiang Mai Municipality Office held an event for World Diabetes Day, where the vice deputy mayor Suamchai Meesomsak was president.
Suamchai spoke of how diabetes affects people all over the world, and that people are being diagnosed with diabetes at a younger age every year, mainly because of our changing lifestyles. He added that everyone should focus on their health and wellbeing and important factors are diet, exercise and avoiding or dealing with stress. He also said that alcohol and cigarettes are huge health risks associated with the disease.
At the office, booths for free check-ups were available, as well as an exhibition about diabetes – its causes, current statistics, and methods of prevention.
