CityNews – Tassanai Buranupakorn, the mayor of Chiang Mai told the press that all pawn shops under the authority of Chiang Mai Municipality had reserved 280 million baht for people who needed the pawn shop for the new school term, May 15th, to buy various things.
He said that pawn shops might not be ideal but they kept people away from loan sharks.
He also added that around four million baht was loaned each day to three pawn shops in Chiang Mai city. He reassured the public that all the three pawn shops would have enough money.
