Volunteer Fire Fighter Criticised for Starting a Fire

CityNews – The fire starter arrested in Chiang Dao was in fact a volunteer firefighter team member who started the fire in order to help put out the fire.

Following the report of the arrest of Uncle Pun who set a fire at Doi Luang Chiang Dao on April 2nd, a Facebook account named Aloneape Aun shared a post explaining that he is a volunteer fire fighter and his intention was to put out the fire and to make a firebreak, complaining that he had been victimised by the press and people on social media. Shortly after the story was posted today, Drama-addict, a huge social media influencer, confirmed the claim. However, Uncle Pun’s action was done without consulting the fire boss and the team. He reportedly arbitrarily made a firebreak 500 metres away from the site, which could cause harm to the operation. The forestry officer decided to only charge him 20,000 baht without further punishment.
