The Bicycle Thief

CityNews – Chiang Mai police arrested two thieves recently, one who had been stealing bicycles and another who was a bag snatcher.

Throughout March, it was reported that over ten bicycles, most of which were very expensive, were stolen in the Muang District, with many being stolen from students’ accommodation, while many tourists also had their bicycles stolen. Police tracked, via CCTV, the thief to Haiya Road, and soon an arrest was made in the area of Natthapong Potatpng, 36 years old man who was found with eight pawn tickets for bicycles he had pawned off for between 3,000-3,500 each. Natthapong confessed that he used to go to schools, universities and apartment buildings to look for designer bikes that were not locked.
On the same day Boontam Sate-nate, 45, was arrested for snatching a bag from Waricha Jantarangsri, 56, at Nonghoi Food Market. Police arrested him in the evening on the same day. Boontam said he wanted money to spend over the Songkran holidays.
