Thailand praised in rescue training

CityNews – 17th December 2019, Charoenrit Sa-nguansat, Chiang Mai Governor was a chairman for the closing of the training exercise of search and rescue mission in urban area of Asia-Pacific region, according to the standard of International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG), held on 15 – 17 December, in Chiang Mai.
Chiang Mai Governor, representing Chiang Mai and Thailand, thanked all participants and said that this first time of Thailand being a host of the training was really good for learning important systems and methods in emergency situations. Thailand would bring the lessons learned to improve Thailand’s national disaster management plan to be according to INSARAG standards.


Meanwhile, INSARAG management team praised Thailand’s performance and good international relations. The training covered simulations of earthquakes in Chiang Mai and nearby areas, to prepare for the worse. Staff participating in model disaster rescue team consisted of those in Thailand and member countries in Asia-Pacific, around 400 persons from 14 countries.
