CityNews – Songtaew drivers gave a thank you bouquet to airport security in gratitude for prosecuting a Grab Car driver.

Following a dispute between a Grab Car Driver and security guards at the Chiang Mai International Airport, which occurred on July 21st, a group of songtaew drivers made a public appearance to hail the airport for standing up to the Grab Car driver. The incidence concluded with a denial, backed by CCTV footage, from the airport authorities against allegations of physical assault levelled by a Grab Car driver.

On July 23rd, Korn Karnnanokphorn and several other songtaew drivers presented a thank you bouquet to the security force of Chiang Mai International Airport. Korn stated that this is an act of gratitude to the airport for serving justice to the ride share company, an “underground transportation service”.

As the representative of songtaew drivers on this occasion, Korn encouraged the airport officers to continue to conduct their duty while promising the full support of songtaews.

The airport’s protocol on ride share service providers starts with a warning on the first catch. The driver will be fined after they are caught several times ranging between 50 to 2,000 baht, according to Ministry of Transport declaration.
