CityNews – On 29th October at Chiang Mai Town Hall, Worawit Intajai of the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Chiang Mai Provincial Office, reported Chiang Mai’s plan to reduce accidents during the New Year Festival.

Chiang Mai will implement six measures in the reduction plan focusing on: management, legal, social, traffic, PR, and emergency rescue.

There will be strict speed limits, alcohol tests, and helmet checks throughout the festival.

“Last year accidents happened frequently from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., so this year we will set up more checkpoints during these hours, especially in areas where accidents happen a lot. We will also be very strict on drink driving, speed limits, helmets, seatbelts, and traffic signs,” Worawit said.
