CityNews – On 1st October around 2,000 Mae Jaem corn farmers gathered at Chiang Mai Town Hall demanding the government responds to their proposal of increasing the buying price of corn.

The farmers gathered in front of the building and blocked all exits, not allowing staff in or out of the buildings.

Uthai Buntiam, a spokesperson for the farmers, said the farmers have been left with no choice since the government have not responded to their proposal.

At 11.30 a.m. Chiang Mai Vice Governor Rittipan Tachapan invited representatives to talk with local officials but the farmers refused saying they want a reply from the central government.
