CityNews – In spite of the law in Thailand generally turning a blind eye to prostitution, or in some cases profiting from the trade, police occasionally do clamp down.

In Pattaya on Wednesday evening police arrested over 100 women and transgender persons in the Walking Street believed to be working as prostitutes.

In an effort to clean up the street police said that they were reacting to many complaints from tourists who said they had been robbed or scammed in the area.

The 100 or so people detained however were not charged with crimes relating to prostitution, and were later released with cautions, said an article in the Bangkok Post.

The matter of prostitution and its legality is very complicated. You can read more about it here.
