CityNews – May 15th, Chiang Mai Zoo, Nipon Wichairat, acting director of Chiang Mai Zoo, introduced the event ‘Welcome the New Home of Chuang Chuang and Lin Hui,’ following the renovations made for the two pandas in anticipation of the upcoming breeding season.
Instead of the two pandas being displayed together every morning, Lin Hui, the female panda, will be exhibited in the morning and Chuang Chuang will appear in the afternoon.
On the morning of the announcement the pandas were treated to a special kantoke buffet while sitting on crushed ice coloured with sweet drinks with a small waterfall as a backdrop. The two pandas enjoyed feasting on their favourite fruits, apples and carrots, as well as as much as you can eat bamboo shoots, bamboo leaves…and bamboo cakes.
The enclosure was also decorated with fresh bamboos and a small waterfall to add more humidity. The natural time of the year for the pandas to breed is approaching and all eyes are on the two animals. Nipon also said that the first ten tourists who visit each morning and each afternoon will also get a chance to feed the two pandas starting from now until the end of May.
