Open Invitation to Tree Planting Event at the Scar of Doi Suthep this Sunday

CityNews – The Forestry Department another other offices have issued an open invitation to the Chiang Mai public, asking for their help in restoring the Scar of Doi Suthep by planting trees this Sunday.

The National Parks Wildlife and Plants Conservation Department (Chiang Mai Office) has been assigned to manage the reforestation of the judicial residences on Doi Suthep, following a long fight between the Chiang Mai people and judicial officers came to conclusion.

The first planting activity is set to take place this Sunday, May 27th, with plans to plant vetiver grass and build a check dam in the area. The vetiver grass was chosen as the pilot plant due to its ability to help prevent soil erosion. Several other types of sapling have also been prepared for the event.

Over a hundred military officers and forestry officers will be helping plant the trees, however the activity is open to Chiang Mai citizens who have been urged to join in.
