Monks Pay Visit to 109 Year Old Man in Phitsanulok

CityNews – On 29th April a Radburana Temple abbot and clergy visited 109 year old Poon Takosai. Poon is in good health and is not suffering from any form of dementia. He is currently living with his the fourth daughter, Saiyut Takosai (56), in Amphur Wangthong.


Officials double checked his ID card which stated that Poon was born in 1905 and grew up in Phichit Province. Poon lived through both world wars. He served as a soldier in Phitsanulok for 8 years before he fought in the Indochina Wars. During World War II he was stationed on the border in Amphur Maesod, Tak, until his unit was disbanded. After he retired from the military he settled in Phitsanulok and got married. His wife passed away 10 years ago.

Poon said in the past he worked hard. He says he exercises every day to build his stamina and he doesn’t like to drink alcohol or smoke. He says he always eats chili sauce with vegetables, which he claims makes him strong and keeps him in good health. He also receives 1,000 baht from financial aids for the elderly.
