On May 17, reporters interviewed vendors in the Muang Mai Market who had increased the price of products such as cabbages to 120 baht per 10 kilograms (previously 20-30 baht) and tomatoes to 20 baht per kilo (from 10-15 baht).

Vendors defended the rise as due to the severe drought, crop yield has been low this year.

Products such as lentils however, have become cheaper, with 30-40 baht discounts at the current time.
