CityNews – The Mae Kha Canal was visited by the Chiang Mai Municipality along with Tassanai Buranupakorn as a new dredging project began in anticipation of the upcoming rainy season.
On May 22nd, a new canal resurrection project began, with over 20 kilmoetres of the canal being dredged over the following week.
The canal is just 5 metres in width so a regular bulldozer used for dredging would be too wide. A floating digger has been retrofitted to be used instead. The process will most likely encounter delays as a number of residences have been found to encroach onto the canal, blocking the path.
Authorities are working on revoking certain licences from the encroaching residences.
