Mae Chaem composting not burning

Mae Chaem’s Baan Mai Pattana Santi village held an activity earlier today where villagers collected dead leaves off the forest floor to turn into bales which in turn will be composted. This is all part of this year’s policy set by the Ministry of National Resources and the Environment to reduce PM2.5 levels by encouraging communities to compost their waste rather than burn them.

These bales will then be compressed into bricks and sold helping to generate income for villagers.

Many villages across ten northern provinces will participate in these awareness-building activities.
