CityNews – Chiang Mai Municipality and Wat Chedi Luang will arrange the annual religious ‘Inthakin Festival 2013’ from 5th – 11th June. The opening ceremony will be on 5th June at 4 p.m. at Wat Chedi Luang.
Inthakin Festival is an annual event to worship the city pillar, the Inthakin Pillar, located in Wat Chedi Luang. The pillar is a Buddhist symbol of harmony blessing the people of Chiang Mai. The ceremony involves propitiating spirits who protect the city, maintaining peace and also ensuring enough rain will fall for the upcoming season.
