CityNews – Huay Kaew waterfall at Doi Suthep – Pui National Park has officially dried up, leaving trees around the area struggling for water.
On May 11, reporters visited several locations around Doi Suthep to check on the status of the water such as waterfalls and rivers, given the recent fire that was exaccerbated by very dry leaf litter and other parched organic material.
They found that the Huay Kaew waterfall was totally dried up and serveral other areas in the national are close to critical. They noticed many tress around the rivers and waterfalls were dying due to lack of water, and butterflies that usually cover the landscape were all gone.
They predicted that even if there is rainfall, it will take a long time to bring the waterfall back to abundant water levels.
This news follows news that the Ping River was dried up in certain places and that Mae Ngat dam has only 10% of it’s water left, but can only use half of that before the water levels goes lower than the pumps.
