CityNews – Chiang Mai Zoo Director Niphon Wichairat says that the hot and smoggy weather has affected the animals at the zoo.
A zoo resident enjoys a frozen treat.
“The weather has been hot and there has been no wind. Plus, Chiang Mai has been covered with smog and wildfire problems,” Niphon told reporters.
Thus, zoo employees are closely monitoring animals and seeking solutions to reduce the heat and stress of pollution.
Animals are receiving extra fruit, sweet drinks, and toys to help relax them. Zookeepers are also spraying water in the air 3-4 times per day to help reduce the animals’ stress caused by heat and smog.
