CityNews – April 20th, Hailstorm hits Chiang Mai.
Summer storm hit Chiang Mai yesterday, causing damages in several areas, but also offering great relief to the haze that has been plaguing the province.
The Meteorological Department had been announcing the possibility of a summer storm between April 19 – 21 in the Northern area, and had informed all provinces to prepare for the unexpected situation from the storm. The department used many channels to send a message to people to be careful. Yesterday, 19th April, the storm hit, offering a much anticipated shower.
Narong Onsaard, Lamphun’s Governor, said that as to the drought problem, he has a meeting to find the solution for drought and make a plan to release water in small increments to manage resources. He said Lamphun irrigation department has to use water around 16,500 cbm for consumption which should see water resources lasting until July.
