CityNews – CityNews recieved an email June 24th from Don Willcox and  Piranan Singjai of The Foundation to Encourage the Potential of Disabled Persons explaining some great news.

A foreigner who signs his emails ‘G’ has responded about the man without arms from your wonderful appeal,” wrote Willcox, adding, “He says he will help so we are now exploring electric wheelchair designs for Khun Prasert to see which one, if any, he can drive using his arm hooks. Formerly he used his remaining damaged leg to push himself backwards in a standard wheelchair – not an easy task.”

Willcox assured us that thanks to the good will of the man named G Prasert’s life is going to be much easier.

“Just wanted to let you to know the good news and to thank you for helping to bring hope into this man’s life,” wrote Willcox.

CitytNews also wishes to thanks G for his donation.

CityNews – The Foundation to Encourage the Potential of Disabled Persons is reaching out to the community for help. They are asking for donations that will go to Prasert, a 41 year old man who is missing both of his arms and one leg as a result of an accident.

The foundation first met Prasert while he was helping out at the regional disabled vocational training school. They offered him a place to live and also a workshop where he uses all tools and supplies free of charge. He completed a training course in electronics and eventually wants to start his own appliance repair business.

Although the foundation gives Prasert a year to pick up where he last left off, they cannot afford to cover all of his expenses. With the government only offering him $16 USD as a monthly subsidy, he needs almost fourteen times that to cover his meals and personal expenses. Prasert has no family and no home, and while he has a wheelchair it is extremely difficult to use seeing that he only has hooks for hands.

Don Wilcox, the director of the foundation for 30 years, says, “It would be difficult indeed to find a more deserving candidate for financial support than Prasert. He has the will and he now has the skill.”

The Foundation to Encourage the Potential of Disabled Persons is the voice for Prasert and is accepting all donations. The foundation’s account is at Siam Commercial Bank Borsang-Doi Sakhet Road, Chiang Mai 50130, Thailand: account number 844-206940-6. They also have a PayPal account under the foundation’s name. The Foundation to Encourage the Potential of Disabled Persons is a non-profit charity here in northern Thailand that supports the disabled that are in need. This foundation provides free wheelchairs and other mobility aids for those who are too poor to afford them. They also do home visits including residential care to those who do not have access to help.
