Former Village Headman in Hang Dong Allegedly Embezzled a Million Baht from Co-op Fund

CityNews – Villagers in Hang Dong have filed a case against the former village headwoman on account of embezzling over a million baht.

Over a hundred villagers from Ban Mai Sankhayom in Ban Pong, Hang Dong District filed a case against Rasmi Muangjai, the former village headwoman at Damrongdhama Centre on November 29th. The villagers led by Pat Lannarak, 31, accused her of embezzling over a million baht from the village’s cooperative fund. At least 210 people reportedly lost their savings. Pat stated that the villagers have been unable to withdraw funds and when they reported the case to the police, the village headwoman in question resigned from the position without taking responsibility.

The director of Damrongdhama Centre, Chiang Mai accepted the case and promise to assist in the matter.
