CityNews – Several flights were delayed from landing at Chiang Mai International Airport over the last few days due to low visibility.
In the morning of December 29, General Manager of Chiang Mai International Airport, Airports of Thailand PLC (AOT), said that the morning mist was still hazy at Chiang Mai Airport around 7.30am reducing visibility to about 500 maters.
Low visibility is dangerous when landing aircraft. By 7.40 the visibility dropped to below 100 metres. Causing the airport to freeze any flight take off and landings until the mist cleared.
By 7.50, flights were allowed to continue as normal.
In total, 5 flights were delayed.
1. Thai Smile Airways flight number WE 150 from Don Muang (DMK) to Chiang Mai (CNX) normal time 7.40am and landing time 8.05am
2. Thai Air Asia Airline flight number FD 101 from U-tapao to Chiang Mai normal time 7.35am and landing time 8.20am
3. Thai Air Asia Airline flight number FD 3437 from Don Muang (DMK) to Chiang Mai (CNX) normal time 7.50am and landing time 8.20am
4. Nok Air flight number DD 8302 from Don Muang (DMK) to Chiang Mai (CNX) normal time 8am and landing time 8.14 am
5. Nok Air flight number DD 8301 from Chiang Mai (CNX) to Don muang (DMK) normal time 7.45am and has been brought back at 8.09am
