Flight of the Gibbon confirms that an accident occurred on our Chiangmai course on 13th of April 2019. There was one fatality. Everyone at Flight of the Gibbon is deeply saddened by this event. At this time, our priority is supporting the family members. Counselling services have been made available.
Our preliminary investigation indicates that there was a metallurgic failure on a swing at station 21 (b). The main zipline cable was unaffected. All participants successfully completed the orientation process and were within standard weight limits. The entire course most recently underwent inspection by an engineer on 28th of March 2019, in addition to the safety inspection that occurs every day we are open.
Safety is our highest priority, and we are now working with authorities and engineers to determine the exact cause of the accident. We will provide additional information after we determine the cause.
