CityNews – 24th March 2020, following the closure of businesses across the city, Doi Suthep Temple has also now announced its closure.
Poramet Ngarmcheun, head of security at Wat Phra That Doi Suthep announced that the COVID-19 pandemic has led to this closure which will see all four gates to the pagoda locked down. For tourists who have travelled from afar and didn’t know about the closure, he continued, the temple will make exceptions and will allow them in one at a time.
This closure is indefinite and an announcement will be made when it is time to reopen.
