CityNews – On 24th May 2019 it was announced that the Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail on Doi Inthanon will close from 1st June until 30thNovember this year to allow nature to heal from damages from excessive numbers of visitors, as well as to protect visitors from any hard during the monsoon season.

This closure will, from now on, happen every year. Because of steep walks, slippery slopes, heavy rainfall and strong winds, authorities are concerned for visitors’ safety and five months every year would allow the area to rest and rejuvenate between high seasons.

Every other area on the Doi Inthanon National Park is still open as usual, though the 360 metre Ang Kad trail will soon have a wooden walkway so that visitors don’t damage the ground. More and more walkways will be built in the future so that our footprints do not destroy nature, said authorities.
