The once-splendid Dhara Dhevi hotel has had a few very rough years, especially since the Mandarin Oriental withdrew from their management contract.
Over 300 employees have come together the past year to plead the resort’s owners to pay them their owed wages, which now sits at 30 million baht.
The hotel, which recently declared bankruptcy, is currently on the market for 2.1 billion baht.
One employee told CityNews that in spite of numerous pledges and bargains, the resort has yet to honour much of its debt to staff.
The resort told the media yesterday that it will begin payments today, promising to pay back all salaries within seven months.
