CityNews – People of Chiang Mai have flocked to purchase their very own commemorative banknote celebrating the King’s 70th year on the throne.
The portrait banknotes found in banks across the country are limited to two per person, with a full body portrait of the king and the number 70 (it is a 70 baht note) at the bottom.
People were queuing from very early this morning to get their hands on the note.
Each Siam Commerical Bank branch in Chiang Mai recieved only 2,000 notes, and sold them for 100 baht. It is expected that the banks will sell out quickly due to the popularity of the note.
