CityNews – 7th April 2020, the fire-ravaged photographs of a civet cat which did the rounds this weekend has led to an outcry over the loss of wildlife in the Doi Suthep-Pui fires.

The civet cat is currently in coma, being treated at a wildlife clinic along with five leopard cat cubs.

The heartbreaking image of the civet cat which had escaped the fire to lie waiting death on the road near Montatarn Waterfall has made the social media rounds, eliciting fresh outrage over the ongoing fires.

Vets say that the civet cat is in critical condition with one eye pushed out of the socket, many teeth missing and many other injuries and bruises to its body.

The civet at is currently in an induced coma and on antibiotics.

Authorities say that the damage to animals in these fires has been devastating, with the most damage to smaller animals living on the ground such as turtles, peacocks, snakes as well as birds. The water resources have all dried up as well and animals are unable to find nourishment. Then there is the smoke which makes living conditions untenable.
