CityNews – Chiang Mai has a new American Consul General, a Mr. Michael Heath.

Heath most recently served in the Economic Section of the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, China, covering bilateral economic and other issues as part of the U.S.-China Strategic & Economic Dialogue. During a previous assignment at the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok, he worked temporarily in Chiang Mai for a two-week period.
He had prior tours in the diplomatic service in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Georgetown, Guyana, as well as at the U.S. State Department in Washington D.C. Heath is originally from California, and received his bachelors degree from Stanford University in 1986. He and his wife, Michelle, have two children. They enjoy various sports and outdoor activities, and look forward to exploring Chiang Mai’s art and music scenes.
