CityNews – A seminar was held on August 28th under the topic of “Chiang Mai Go Clean” to enhance the efficiency of the city’s waste management system. The event was joined by various organisations who exchanged their knowledge related to the matter. This is part of the proactive strategy which is to drive Chiang Mai to become a zero waste city.

Wirun Panthevi, the deputy governor of Chiang Mai shared his concerns at the event that, as the city has grown into a recognised tourism destination, the amount of waste has also increased. Last year, the total number of waste generated in the province was over 600,000 tonnes.
